The Buoy Type Sonar is the underwater monitoring system installed and operated in the blank regions (the high speed boat forward base and the neighborhood of the nuclear power plant) having difficulty in installing the fixed type underwater monitoring system for the fixed period. The Buoy Type Sonar consists of the buoy assembly stably operated in the maritime environment of Korea, the low frequency directional array sensor assembly enabling the left and right classification, the installation and collection device ensuring the operational convenience, the high speed large scale communication and control device enabling the real-time communication, and the signal and information processing devices enabling the real-time target detection and tracking.

The sonars for the minesweeper are mainly categorized into the HMS (Hull Mounted Sonar) and the VDS (Variable Depth Sonar). Hanwha Systems are participating in the localization development of the three part types (operator console, transmission part, and receipt amplication part) for the HMS (Hull Mounted Sonar) (193M MOD1) mounted to the navy Ganggyeong ship class minesweeper. Jangbogo-III (KSS-3) Sonar System Mine Evasion Sonar
The Jangbogo-3 sonar system mine avoidance sonar is one of the eight sonar system types and is installed in the ship bow. It can promptly detect the mine and obstacle existing in the ship bow direction. In case of surfacing, it prevents the collision with a floating object. In case of the submarine voyage, the safe navigation of the ship is supported by analyzing the surrounding situation with the 3D visualization of the seabed.
