The FFX B3 MFR is the nation’s first naval digital key sensor mounted to the 3,000t class next generation frigate (Ulsan class Batch-III). It performs the missions on the omnidirectional antiaircraft and antiship target search and track, naval gunfire support, etc. and can perform the various missions of AAW (Antiaircraft Warfare), ASuW (Antisurface Ship Warfare), EW (Electronic Warfare), AGW (Antiground Warfare), and the command and control.
The digital phased array antenna is the key component acting as the eye of the multi-functional phased radar. It strengthens the perfect target search and track performance for the omnidirectional area with the high speed electronic beam steering control. Moreover, the best operation beam is provided by generating the multiple beams and adaptation beam optimized for the operation environment.
The array antenna was developed with the light, short, and thin flat panel type with the characteristics of the less loss and more profit and will be applied to the FFX Batch-III multi-functional phased array radar. Moreover, design is done with the modular structure so that it can be applied to the various combat platforms such as the KDDX, the future battleship.
  • Cheongung (Basic Type) / Cheongung 2 (Performance Improvement Type) Multi-Functional Radar
Cheongung (Basic Type) / Cheongung 2 (Performance Improvement Type) Multi-Functional Radar
The Cheongung multi-functional radar, the M-SAM (Medium-range Surface-to-Air Missile), is the key sensor equipment of the surface-to-air missile for the medium-range, medium- and low-altitude antiaircraft defense. It is the nation’s first 3D phased array X-band radar and can detect the various situations to enable the omnidirectional simultaneous engagement in the complex battlefield environment.
The medium-range surface-to-air missile Cheolmae-II performance improvement multi-functional radar is the key sensor of the Cheolmae-II performance improvement system for the medium-range regional air defense and the ballistic missile defense power operation. The ballistic missile defense capability was strengthened much more by succeeding in adding the function of the search and track of the small high speed ballistics missile target.

Search/Track Radar

  • Cheonma Search Radar / Performance Improvement
Cheonma Search Radar / Performance Improvement
The Cheonma search radar, the key sensor of the Cheonma system, consists of the search and track radars. Especially, the technological prowess was recognized by succeeding in digitalizing the search radar for the first time in the nation. In order to improve the operation and maintenance of the Cheonma search radar, the imported TWTA was replaced by the GaN-based S band semiconductor transmission module developed with the local technology.
  • VHF Radar
    VHF Radar
It is one of the next generation long-range air surveillance system and performs the intensive search and tracking at the operator’s request on the target suspected as stealth by using the full digital antenna technology and the characteristics of the VHF band. The detected target information is supplied to the upper system of the command post.
  • Naval Short-Range Track Radar
    Naval Short-Range Track Radar
The naval short-range track radar is the equipment required for the ship defense. The low-altitude threat target such as the antiship missile can be detected fast by providing the ally with the information on the azimuth and the high angle and the information on the panoramic image.

Special Radar

  • KGSR
    (Korean Ground Search Radar)
    KGSR (Korean Ground Search Radar)
The KGSR (Korean Ground Search Radar) is mainly installed in the battlefront for the surveillance of the enemy situation in all weathers. Especially, it monitors the movement of vehicles, tanks, individuals, and groups. It can be used as the unmanned surveillance sensor with modification and improvement so that it can be used very often.
